Relationship vs. Single

What is the difference between a relationship and being single? Let’s think about the actual differences.

When you are single you look for possible relationships and what could be the ‘one’. When you are in a relationship, you are trying to figure out whether that other person is the one or not.

When you are single you are looking out for your heart and making sure no one can get close enough to hurt or possibly break it. When you are in a relationship you are either still doing the same thing or you have given your heart to the person you love. Ultimately fearful that the person you gave it to doesn’t rip it apart or mistreat it.

When you are single you are looking out for you, no one else. When you are in a relationship you are looking out for you and the other person. Protecting you both, essentially doing the same thing, just for two.

Now the big question, are you in a relationship if you are not technically with someone although you know they have your heart and you have no intention on trying to get it back? My answer, yes, you are in a relationship.

My heart is in Texas where I left it a couple weeks ago. And the person I left it with can do whatever they want with it. I am in love. And I have come to the point where I am willing to risk it all to love this person. Call me what you will, I simply call it faith and love.

So to answer that question, yes, I am in a relationship because I gave my heart to someone. And I want them to know I love them with everything I ever was, everything I am and everything I will ever become.
